Description
The Medication Technician is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications to residents in accordance with state regulations, community policies, and physician orders. This role plays a key part in supporting residents’ health and well-being by ensuring medications are given correctly and by monitoring for any changes in condition. The Med Tech also assists with daily care tasks and fosters a compassionate, respectful living environment. Key Responsibilities: Medication Administration Prepare, administer, and document medications in compliance with physician orders and community policy. Verify correct medication, dosage, resident, time, and route before administration. Maintain accurate and complete medication administration records (MARs). Report and document any medication errors, side effects, or refusals promptly. Refill and reorder medications as needed in coordination with the pharmacy and nursing staff. Resident Care and Support Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition and report to supervising nurse or manager. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, or ambulation when needed. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, promoting dignity and positive engagement. Qualifications Active Medication Technician License on Maryland Board of Nursing 6 months of experience Salary: $18.00 per hour
