JOB DESCRIPTION

The Nursery Lead Teacher at High Meadow teaches students ages three and four, in our Nursery class. The lead teacher creates a warm, safe, and welcoming classroom environment that includes all students. They design and deliver social skill-building and emergent academic skills aligned with developmental milestones, create inquiry-based units based on student interest, and strive to make interdisciplinary connections using our school’s frames of sustainability, place-based education, social justice, and the arts. Early Childhood Lead teachers support students’ social and emotional growth using child-centered curriculum and restorative discipline approaches. HMS is a general education inclusion setting. Early Childhood Lead Teachers are responsible for differentiating the learning environment and academic lessons to meet each child’s goals, including those with early childhood intervention services, 504 plans, or mandated services. Lead teachers work with an assistant teacher assigned to their classroom, frequently collaborate with colleagues, and foster supportive and communicative partnerships with the children and families in their classrooms.
