Description
The Program for the Gifted and Talented (PGT) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong is now looking for strong candidates to fill the post of School Development Officer I (Full-time / Part-time). The appointee will assist the Program Director to ensure professional development of the Program for the Gifted and Talented. Job duties include (a) developing and implementing regular programmes, enrichment courses and other learning activities for the gifted and talented students; (b) organizing and conducting academic lectures, seminars, workshops, and sharing sessions for school teachers and parents of gifted students; (c) networking and collaborating with educational institutions (including overseas parties) in providing diverse and challenging learning opportunities for gifted students; (d) conducting educational and evaluation research; (e) exploring new and insightful initiatives for the further development of gifted programs and service; and (f) performing other duties as assigned. Applicants should (i) have a good Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education or other relevant disciplines, plus at least eight years’ post-degree experience in education or related areas; or a relevant Bachelor’s degree and a postgraduate diploma, certificate or degree (a higher degree) in Education or equivalent, plus at least six years’ post-qualification experience in education or related areas; (ii) be experienced in planning and developing education programs, courses, and services for teachers, students and their parents; (iii) have knowledge and experience in providing professional support and consultation to students with special educational needs, their parents and school teachers; (iv) have experience in networking and promoting collaborative initiatives with other educational institutions; (v) have strong command of spoken and written English and Chinese; (vi) be proficient in computer software applications including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Chinese word-processing; (vii) be decisive, able to work independently and under pressure, and have an open, cheerful, innovative and positive work attitude; (viii) have strong initiative, strong sense of responsibility, and team work spirit; and (ix) have excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. Applicants with experience in developing initiatives for new programs are strongly preferred. Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
