Description

The Peace River School Division is seeking applications for a Full-Time (1.00 f.t.e.) Payroll Clerk. This permanent position will commence on May 1, 2025 or on a date of mutual agreement.
The role involves performing various financial activities related to the Division’s monthly payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal and provincial regulations, Collective Agreements, and Division policies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources.
  • Minimum two years of experience in payroll or human resources preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll, pensions, benefits, relevant legislation, and collective agreements.
  • Experience with payroll systems, preferably Atrieve ERP/PowerSchool.
  • Familiarity with audits, income tax forms, RRSPs, health benefits, sick pay, and retirement plans.
    A current Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check is a requirement for employment.
    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (7.0 hrs. day)
    Location: Peace River School Division’s Central Operations – In person

Responsibilities
  • Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Prepare journal entries, records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
  • Maintain detailed payroll records for audit purposes in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage employee enrollments and terminations for pensions and benefits, coordinating with service providers.
  • Prepare monthly reports and remittances for unions, RRSPs, pension plans, group benefits, garnishments, etc.
  • Track employee holiday and leave entitlements.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to maintain accurate payroll and personnel records.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Conduct monthly and annual reconciliations and reporting.
