Description:

QA TECHNICIAN – FULL TIME

Based in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, Wilson’s Country Ltd specialises in pre-packed, peeled and processed potatoes.
We supply food retailers, caterers and food processing companies with a range of products, offering quality, taste, full traceability and value for money.
Due to our continued success and business growth we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quality Assurance Technician.
FULL TIME - Hours of work will be 40 hours per week:
The standard working week is 5 days over 6 Monday - Saturday with a day off during the week. The normal shift pattern will be 8.00am-5.00pm however, there may be occasions where cover is required on the other shift patterns and opportunities available for overtime depending on the business needs.
Our basic pay rate £12.50, with an over-time rate 1.5 of pay rate per hour on hours worked over 40 hours and double time for any hours on a Sunday.

The successful applicant will join out quality assurance team and tasks will include the following;

  • Carrying out ‘shelf-life’ testing
  • Assessing raw material for quality
  • Carrying out sampling & conducting on-line testing in accordance with procedure
  • Ensuring that product adheres to customer specification
  • Carrying out quality tests, such as calibration, temperature control, weight etc.
  • Carrying out quality audits, for example, glass & plastic audits, hygiene audits
  • Liasing with production

Any other associated duties as directed by Quality / Technical Manager
Requirements:
Ideally we are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working in a food production environment/food preparation
  • A good general awareness of food safety, food hygiene, health and safety and quality
  • GCSE English & Math’s, grade C or above
  • Computer skills and a good standard of literacy and numerical skills sufficient to carry out job duties.
  • The ability to work accurately & independently in a fast-paced working environment
  • Relevant experience in quality control or quality assurance would be preferable however not essential as full training will be provided.
