JOB TITLE: FULL-TIME SOUS CHEF

Location: Poplar Nurseries, Marks Tey, Colchester
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: Full-Time – 7:30am – 4:30pm. No split shifts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to step up
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
  • A passion for fresh, seasonal food
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (Level 3 preferred)
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment that requires excellent organisational skills, creativity, and a calm, can-do attitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Head Chef in all kitchen operations
  • Maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
  • Lead and motivate kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
  • Help with menu development and daily specials
  • Manage stock control and minimise waste
  • Maintain a clean, efficient, and well-organised kitchen
