Description

AT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE, AALBORG UNIVERSITY A VACANCY AS A FULL-TIME TECHNICAL PROJECT EMPLOYEE IS AVAILABLE FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2025, OR SOON AFTER.

The successful candidate will have to perform software development and minor project coordination.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring and improving the quality of the software tools which the DESS unit develops through research. This is mainly related to research with the mobility research area.

Significant parts of the research done in the DESS unit are done in collaboration with others. It is therefore important that the candidate both can collaborate internally with AAU researchers and externally with public/private organizations. Relevant job experience from the software industry is beneficial. Specifically, the responsibilities of the candidate include the following.

  • System development, we mainly use Python, Angular (TypeScript), and C# (.NET),
  • o Including development coordination (mainly student programmers and researchers)
  • Spatial data management, we mainly use PostgreSQL, DuckDB, PostGIS, and QGIS
  • Software deployment, we use Docker and Portainer
  • Mobile crowd sensing, we collect different data types, e.g., GPS, AIS, photo, and video
  • Applied data mining tools, we mainly use Yolo, scikit-learn, and PyTorch
  • Testing and release management, we use Git, Apache Airflow

The position requires detailed knowledge of data management using SQL on the PostgreSQL/DuckDB platforms. The position also requires familiarity with Python, C#, and web programming.
The candidate should have experience with software development tools, like version control, bug tracking, testing frameworks, deployment and should be able to provide friendly and constructive advice.
