Fast Fab Custom Metal Fabrication is looking for a full-time, welder/fabricator to join its team for the afternoon shift. Primary duties include fabricating mild steel, stainless, and aluminum. This includes reading drawings to determine the components that need to be fabricated, fabricating the components, and assembling them to meet the specifications of the drawing. Fabrication requires strong knowledge of shop equipment including the shear, brake press, notcher, iron worker, drill press, band saw, and bender. Secondary duties include welding mild steel to meet required specifications. Working with a team and coordination across the shop will be required for completion of large, multi-stage jobs.

Duties

• Read and interpret engineered drawings to determine work required.
• Fabricate mild steel, stainless, and aluminum based on drawings provided.
• Weld mild steel based on drawings provided.
• Shear, cut, bend, brake, notch, punch, drill steel when required.
• Assemble components when required.
• Ensure all work is within allowed tolerances before job completion.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience fabricating steel - shear, brake press, notcher, band saw, iron worker.
• Experience welding mild steel - Flux Core and Gas Metal Arc.
• Experience or certified in forklift operations.
• Stainless and aluminum welding experience an asset.
• AutoCAD experience an asset.
• W47.1 CWB Certified - Flux Core and Gas Metal Arc an asset.
• Strong and efficient communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Compensation

• Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.

Fast Fab is a growing CWB certified metal shop established in 2008 with a team of 10 welders and fabricators. Fast Fab services a number of local industries including construction, forestry, landscaping, mining, oil and gas, and communications. Day or afternoon shift positions are available.
