FULL TIME RECOVERY COACH/SUPPORT WORKER

This posting is being created to provide strong support to Oxford House Pre-Treatment residents in evenings in Calgary. Please read full description of job.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of addictions and the skill set to promote Oxford House in the community. Lived experience is an asset.
  • A working knowledge and competency with Microsoft Word/Excel. MRP (My Recovery Plan), FYI database training for paperless filing and file creation will be provided.
  • Competency in the administration of drug tests and proper handling of samples.
  • Competency in Conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Is an initial contact for individuals applying for residential treatment.
  • Screens applicants, conduct initial interviews, and, if appropriate, refers the applicant to the pre-treatment home with an opening.
  • Assists new and current residents with treatment support, contacting treatment centers etc.
  • Is responsible for ensuring all pre-treatment residents attend daily meetings and is available to support our pre-treatment residents.
  • Has a clear understanding of MRP and helps pre-treatment residents complete their entries.
  • Networks with and maintains good working relationships with other community agencies regarding pre-treatment openings and residential treatment entries.
  • Is on call at times on weekends, is available, and communicates by cell phone provided by Oxford House.
  • Administers drug tests and proceeds with the outcome.
  • Conflict resolution involvement when needed.
  • Be responsible for turning in receipts and proper use of credit cards.
  • RC-SW has read, understands, and accepts all policies and procedures related to Oxford House and its Pre-Treatment Program.
  • Develops Grocery lists and completes Pre-Treatment house shopping.
  • Partake in workshops and seminars offered by other Agencies (When available).
  • Being courteous and respectful when dealing with residents, applicants, co-workers, and the community is also a requirement.
  • Represents Oxford House in the Addiction community.
