Your role as a Full-Time Infant & Toddler Teacher (Opener/Float) is essential to the growth and well-being of our youngest learners. Working closely with the Child Care Director and Lead Teachers, you will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment while supporting classroom operations across the program. Your key responsibilities include: Ensure a safe, nurturing learning environment by following DHS Rule 3 regulations and YMCA policies, including supervision, ratios, documentation, and child guidance practices. Support classroom operations by assisting Lead Teachers and supervising classroom staff (Assistant Teachers, Aides, substitutes, and volunteers) to maintain a positive, well-organized learning space. Guide children’s development and behavior using positive, consistent, and developmentally appropriate techniques that promote social, emotional, and academic growth. Communicate professionally with families regarding children’s progress, needs, and classroom experiences while maintaining respectful and supportive relationships. Maintain professional standards by completing required annual trainings, participating in meetings and YMCA events, following emergency procedures, and demonstrating reliability in attendance and punctuality. Must meet DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications. Post-secondary education and formal child care experience is required. Credits and hours required vary based on area of study and degree (if any) earned. Must complete and have a non-disqualified background study record. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid with Bloodborne Pathogens, or obtain within the first 90 days of employment. Proof of completion of SIDS, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting before interaction with children. Must take CACFP food program training and YMCA 101 within the first 90 days of employment.
