Responsibilities

The Cloud Solution Counseling Team within SAP’s Legal Department is seeking a fully qualified lawyer (m/f/d) with several years of IT and software law experience, with an emphasis on advising product development and engineering teams on legal and regulatory topics. This role involves serving as the primary legal advisor and business partner to one or more SAP Cloud Solution Areas. You will provide proactive support in the areas of product development, commercialization, and regulatory compliance. When specialized topics arise (e.g., regulatory, data protection, or security), collaboration with other experts within SAP Legal will be particularly important. Prompt and consistent communication with clients and other stakeholders is also crucial to success.

Routine tasks you can expect in connection with this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive legal advice on cloud product development topics and new business models
  • Acting as the key legal contact for SAP cloud development units on regulatory and legal requirements
  • Internal networking and collaboration with various internal teams and stakeholders, such as Global Regulatory Legal, Technology Law, Field Legal, Cyber Legal, and DPP Legal to ensure consistent and comprehensive legal advice
  • Helping to develop product, operations, and infrastructure processes and protocols to ensure consistent compliance across SAP’s Cloud Solution Areas
  • Evaluations of new cloud product features and functionality, as well as new solution offerings, including MVP and beta releases
  • Conducting data usage and data protection and privacy analyses
  • Review and support of cloud solution commercialization
  • Drafting and maintaining components of SAP standard contracts and advising Field Legal colleagues with respect to customer product-related inquiries
  • Collaboration with related teams on inbound licensing and OEM topics
  • Advising on the full product lifecycle – from early development, through commercialization, to product sunset and feature retirement
  • Collaboration on co-innovation or proof of concept engagements
  • Creating and conducting training on legal topics
