Job Summary: The Functional Medicine Doctor will provide patient-centered care using a comprehensive, holistic approach to diagnose, treat, and prevent chronic illnesses. This role involves evaluating patients’ medical history, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors to identify underlying causes of health issues. The doctor will work with patients to design personalized treatment plans that incorporate both conventional and alternative medicine practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) with board certification in functional medicine or integrative medicine.
• Valid medical license to practice in the relevant state or country.
• Training in functional medicine, often from organizations like the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) or other accredited institutions.
• Proven experience in diagnosing and managing chronic diseases with a functional medicine approach.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and integrative therapies.
• Ability to build strong patient relationships and communicate effectively.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of the principles of functional medicine and its application to various medical conditions.
• Strong communication skills to educate and guide patients on their health journey.
• Ability to interpret lab results and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Knowledge of alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and detoxification protocols.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in holistic or integrative medicine.
• Advanced certifications in nutrition, clinical nutrition, or related fields.
• Experience with telemedicine or digital health tools for patient management.

• Conduct thorough medical evaluations, including patient history, physical exams, and lab tests to identify root causes of health issues.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that integrate lifestyle changes, nutrition, supplements, and conventional medical treatments.
• Work with patients to manage chronic conditions, including autoimmune diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, mental health disorders, and others.
• Educate patients on functional medicine concepts, diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management for optimal health.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest functional medicine research, treatments, and technologies.
• Provide continuous care and monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to medical regulations and confidentiality standards.
