Job Description Job Profiles: HW Functional Safety Engineer Job Description: The Hardware Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring functional safety compliance of automotive electronic hardware in accordance with ISO 26262. The role involves performing detailed safety analyses, defining and managing hardware safety requirements, reviewing hardware designs, and supporting functional safety assessments across the complete product lifecycle in close collaboration with system, software, and hardware development teams. Key Responsibilities Ensure ISO 26262 compliance for hardware development activities across the product lifecycle. Perform safety analyses including DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA in accordance with ISO 26262. Derive, decompose, manage, and trace hardware safety requirements in alignment with system-level safety concepts. Review hardware designs (schematics, BOMs, component datasheets, supplier documentation) from a functional safety perspective. Support internal and external functional safety audits and assessments. Collaborate closely with system, software, hardware, and supplier teams to achieve functional safety goals. Support impact analysis for design or BOM changes from a functional safety perspective. Technical Skills Experience with ASIL‑C / ASIL‑D safety architectures and concepts. Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 (especially Parts 5,8,9&10) and reliability standards such as SN29500, IEC TR 62380, IEC 61709, and Birolini handbook. Experience in hardware safety analyses DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA etc. Experience with safety and reliability tools such as Medini, EnCo SOX, IQ-RM, Reliability Workbench, and DOORS. Knowledge of automotive microcontrollers, PMICs, discrete components, and communication interfaces. Experience in hardware development lifecycle and design reviews. Familiarity with SEooC concepts, safety manuals, supplier safety deliverables, and assessment support. Strong understanding of fault models, diagnostic concepts, and fault detection mechanisms. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Clear, structured, and professional technical communication. Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional and multicultural teams. Attention to detail and strong documentation quality mindset.
