Description Labconco Corporation, a leading U.S. manufacturer of premium laboratory equipment, is seeking an in-house Functional Test Technician (Union Classification: Test/Repair Technician – TDA, In Training) to support testing, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory equipment on the manufacturing floor. This role is responsible for performing functional testing and diagnostics on complex electrical and mechanical assemblies to ensure products meet Labconco’s quality and performance standards. The position provides training and development toward full TDA responsibilities. Candidates must either possess EPA Certification or be able to complete company-paid EPA Certification training within 90 days of hire as part of the required training for this role. Requirements Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform functional testing of laboratory equipment according to engineering specifications, test procedures, and quality standards. Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, bills of material, and test procedures. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, cosmetic, or performance issues identified during testing. Document test results, calibrations, and performance data accurately. Utilize testing equipment, diagnostic instruments, and hand tools safely and effectively. Assist in identifying root causes of product failures and support corrective actions. Work collaboratively with assembly, engineering, and quality teams to resolve product issues. Support departmental quality, productivity, and performance objectives. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with all safety and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Qualified candidates should have the following: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems as related to equipment assembly, testing, or repair. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, wiring schematics, bills of material, and associated work instructions. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities. Experience using hand tools and testing equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. Previous industrial assembly, equipment repair, HVAC, electrical, or technical service experience preferred. EPA Certification required or the ability to attend company-paid training and obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Union Notice This position is covered under the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will enter the position in the Assembler 2 classification while completing training toward the Test/Repair Technician (TDA) role. Upon successful completion of the required training, promotion to the TDA job classification will occur only after a TDA job opening is formally posted and awarded to the employee in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Terms of employment will be discussed during the interview process. Shift Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Overtime as required.
