Description

L’Arche Winnipeg is seeking an enthusiastic and relationship-focused individual to serve as the Fund Development & Communications Coordinator. This role is about building and nurturing meaningful connections—with individuals, organizations, and the broader community—who value and support the Mission of L’Arche. The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator plans, facilitates, and monitors fundraising and communications activities for both L’Arche Winnipeg and the L’Arche Tova Café.
Primary areas of focus include donor relations, grants, corporate support, direct mail campaigns, special events, public relations, marketing, and storytelling that makes known the gifts of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator works closely with the Administrative Assistant and the Accounting Department, and may provide advice and mentoring in communications to the L’Arche Tova Café team. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with occasional evenings and weekends required, particularly during peak fundraising seasons such as the annual Walk with L’Arche fundraising event.
Location: 118 Regent Avenue East, Winnipeg, MB, R2C0C1

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven ability to support L’Arche’s mission through communications, fundraising, and public speaking.
  • Extensive experience with diverse fundraising activities: special events, direct mail, grants, planned giving, major gifts, and current fundraising trends.
  • Expertise in identifying and writing government, foundation, and corporate grants.
  • Gifted relationship builder with ability to maintain and grow donor and supporter relationships.
  • Experience in event planning, securing corporate sponsorship, event promotion, and committee management.
  • Knowledge and experience in marketing and communications, including websites, newsletters, social media, and media relations.
  • Skilled in social media and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with staff, board members, volunteers, assistants, and core members.
  • Familiarity with accounting, budgeting, and reporting is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software (eTapestry); familiarity with Salesforce (CRM) preferred.
  • Dedicated: loyal and integrity-driven in pursuit of goals.
  • Enthusiastic: shows eager enjoyment and interest in work.
  • Motivated by growth opportunities and increased responsibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communication, Marketing, or related field.
  • Ability to articulate L’Arche’s mission and resource needs clearly.
  • Creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and Imagine Canada’s Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code.
  • Understanding of communications, marketing, and public relations to support effective fundraising.
  • Experience developing donor relationships with foundations, corporations, service organizations, and individuals.
