Meta is looking for a Research Scientist to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, an organization focused on making significant advances in AI. We publish groundbreaking papers and release frameworks/libraries that are widely used in the open-source community. We are seeking a Research Scientist to help develop novel foundation model architectures to (1) enable better reasoning over memory, learning of knowledge, and improvements in factuality/hallucination; (2) apply memory to personalization and language model agents including multi-agent collaborative reasoning; and (3) build the next generation of foundational multimodal language models. This role will be best aligned to researchers who can be considered recognized experts in the fields of natural language processing (LLMs) and core learning with interest to contribute their research to top tier AI/ML conference venues.A research scientist in this role will drive impact by (1) contributing to state-of-the-art research publications, (2) open-sourcing high-quality code and reproducible results for the community, and/or (3) bringing the latest research to Facebook products for connecting billions of users. This role offers direct collaboration with a highly interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, and cross-functional partners and access cutting-edge technology, resources, and research facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ph.D. degree in Natural Language Processing or Core Learning or relevant technical field
  • Experience holding an industry, academic, faculty, or government researcher position
  • Publications in machine learning
  • Experience with machine learning models, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar
  • Experience coding software and executing complex experiments involving large AI models and datasets
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research
  • Publication record at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML or similar)
Responsibilities
  • Directly contribute to experiments to push forward the state-of-the-art in foundational language models including designing experimental details, reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results
  • Drive software design, implementation and evaluation of research experiments
  • Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts
  • Help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones
  • Working with and creating large datasets and benchmarks
