Description
FUNDRAISER - $20/HR GUARANTEED - FLEXIBLE FOR ACTORS & CREATIVES - SAN DIEGO We’re hiring fundraisers to represent major nonprofit organizations working on humanitarian, environmental, and social justice campaigns. This role is especially popular with actors, comedians, musicians, dancers, writers, and other creatives, as it offers stable hourly income while leaving room for auditions, rehearsals, and creative work. Many successful team members come from performing arts programs such as San Diego State University School of Theatre, University of California San Diego (UCSD) Department of Theatre and Dance, California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), AMDA College of the Performing Arts, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. No experience is required - we’re looking for outgoing people who enjoy talking with others and building connections. If you enjoy performing, communicating ideas, and engaging with people, this role can be a great fit. ---------------------------------------- WHAT THE JOB INVOLVES Our teams raise funds through face-to-face outreach with members of the public in community spaces and neighborhoods throughout San Diego. Fundraisers speak with people about important nonprofit campaigns and invite them to become monthly supporters. Many people with performing arts backgrounds thrive in this role because it involves: * Talking with new people throughout the day * Confident communication and storytelling * Working in energetic team environments * Active work that involves being outdoors and on your feet This is a face-to-face outreach role that involves speaking with members of the public throughout the day. ---------------------------------------- PAY & BENEFITS * $20/hour guaranteed starting pay (not commission) * Regular pay reviews and performance-based raises * Bonus opportunities * Paid training from day one * Benefits eligibility after 3 months for full-time employees * Paid time off * Employee Assistance Program (EAP) * Work supporting major humanitarian, environmental, and social justice organizations Public Outreach strongly believes in promoting from within, and many members of our leadership team started their careers in the fundraising role. ---------------------------------------- SCHEDULE We offer shifts Monday to Sunday, and ask that team members commit to at least three full 7-hour shifts per week. Available shifts: * Wednesday-Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM * Monday-Friday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM * Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Many team members appreciate that this role can work well alongside auditions, rehearsals, creative projects, and freelance work. ---------------------------------------- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Successful fundraisers on our team tend to be: * Outgoing and comfortable speaking with new people * Strong communicators who enjoy social interaction * Passionate about humanitarian, environmental, or social justice causes * Positive, reliable, and team-oriented * Comfortable working outdoors and on their feet Experience in performing arts, fundraising, sales, hospitality, customer service, retail, advocacy, volunteering, activism, or other public-facing roles is helpful - but not required. ---------------------------------------- HIRING PROCESS We are actively interviewing this week and looking for candidates who can start soon. Successful applicants may begin paid training shortly after being hired. If you're looking for meaningful work where you can earn $20/hour guaranteed while supporting important nonprofit campaigns, apply today. ---------------------------------------- EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER  Public Outreach is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
