General Background Since 2007 UNHCR Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) has been running successful fundraising programs in several Asian markets. In 2019 PSP aims to raise a minimum of HK$94 million from the Hong Kong market. PSP Hong Kong aims to improve UNHCR brand awareness in Hong Kong, advocate positive sentiment of refugees, in order to encourage more potential donors to support our works in protecting refugees. Fundraising Communications team has been managed by one PSP Communications Associate only and supported by short-term part-time staff and interns during busy periods. An addition supporting staff is needed to ensure sustained publicity for the organisation instead of sporadic noises. This fundraising Communications Assistant will focus on supporting media relationship efforts and content development. S/he will also closely follow HQ's media resources, e.g. press release, web stories videos, in order to create localized angle stories to pitch local media’s interest. S/he will also create local content and support on/offline fundraising campaigns. This position is a UNOPS position with a contract which is renewable each calendar year. 2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment In order to develop effective communications and acquisition strategy in the Hong Kong and Macao, to provide high quality content development services, enhancing media relationship and deliver marketing communications, a Fundraising Communications Assistant is needed to provide efficient • Clerical support: • Collect press-cuttings of articles in national, regional, international and periodicals that pertain to refugee related issues and to the work of the office. • Compile and maintain the mailing list for marketing materials, press releases, information bulletins, etc. and ensure timely dispatch of information to media and other interested parties. • Classify and maintain adequate stock of fundraising and marketing materials and promote sale of marketing products where appropriate. • Support on and offline fundraising and marketing materials content development. • Provide clerical and onsite assistance to events such as poster campaigns, exhibitions, fundraising educational and public awareness raising events. • Provide translation assistance on content between English and Traditional Chinese. • Respond to routine telephone and written enquiries from a variety of sources such as vendors, the media, the public, NGOs and government officials etc. • Maintain fundraising communication files up to date. • Perform other duties as required 3. Monitoring and Progress Controls • Supervision by Assistant PSP Communications Officer • Bi-weekly verbal and written reports on work progress • Project report and evaluation • Deadlines of tasks set by supervisors • Mid-year and year-end evaluation 4. Qualifications and Experience a. Education • Completion of the Secondary Education, degree is desirable in Business Administration, Journalism, Social Science or related field. b. Work Experience • Minimum 1 year working experience for high school diploma and 0 year of experience for bachelors’ degree. • Experience in fundraising, public relation or marketing environment gained in Hong Kong market is desirable. • Proven Experience of managing donor or customer records within a customer relationship database c. Key Competencies • Knowledge of MS Office especially MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Photoshop or video editing tools. • Ability to collaborate with others, with a flexible and positive attitude. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong writing skills, translation and interpreting skills. • Able to work independently and under pressure. • Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese and English.
