The ACLU of Texas operates professional offices in Houston, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, and Brownsville, Texas. ROLE OVERVIEW The Fundraising Coordinator supports the organization’s development efforts by managing donor data, processing gifts, coordinating stewardship activities, and assisting with fundraising events and campaigns. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain positive relationships with donors and internal teams. RESPONSIBILITIES Donor Stewardship & Engagement (35%) Cultivate and maintain relationships with mid-level donors (typically under $5,000). Assist in identifying and researching potential sponsors, grants, and individual donors. Coordinate donor engagement activities before, during, and after events. Draft donor acknowledgments, impact reports, and stewardship communications. Support fundraising campaigns and targeted appeals. Gift Processing & Database Management (45%) Accurately process and record all gifts (checks, credit cards, ACH/EFTs, in-kind donations) in the CRM system (such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, etc.). Prepare and send timely gift acknowledgments and tax receipts. Maintain donor data integrity and update contact information regularly. Generate and distribute reports to support fundraising analysis and campaign tracking. Assist with financial reconciliation and annual audit processes in collaboration with Finance. Event & Campaign Support (10%) Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events and donor appreciation activities. Coordinate event sponsorship benefits and ensure fulfillment of deliverables. Prepare materials for donor meetings, site visits, and fundraising presentations. Administrative Support (10%) Schedule development-related meetings and maintain internal calendars. Coordinate mailings for campaigns and special events, including working with vendors and mail houses. Respond promptly to donor inquiries and maintain confidentiality of donor records. COMPETENCIES Project Management: Able to develop project concepts, break down activities into manageable pieces that can be appropriately delegated to internal collaborators and external vendors, manage vendors for medium-sized contracts, track progress using project management tools, and manage accountability processes for deliverables. Organizational Relations: Represents departmental and organizational positions in internal and external negotiations to achieve objectives. Responsive to requests for action, internally and externally. Written and Verbal Communication. Quickly produces written products, including emails and memos, that summarize information and present options for action. Can communicate with internal and external stakeholders clearly and with empathy. Teamwork: Creates a climate in which people share ownership and want to do their best. Brings a positive, problem-solving attitude to relationships. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of four years' experience in event planning, fundraising, marketing, business administration in a not-for-profit industry Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Continuing education in nonprofit management, communications, or related field. Familiarity with fundraising best practices and donor engagement strategies. COMPENSATION The starting salary for this role is $70,000- $76,000 in alignment with parameters of ACLU of Texas’s salary scale.
