Description The Fundraising Event Coordinator provides leadership for the YMCA’s annual fundraising auction, May Merriment. This seasonal position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the event, ensuring a successful experience that aligns with the YMCA’s mission and values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The coordinator will work closely with established event work groups—including logistics, live and silent auction, finance, and check-in/checkout—to ensure a seamless and well-organized event. Requirements Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the May Merriment fundraising auction. Collaborate with established work groups (logistics, live and silent auction, finance, marketing, check-in/checkout) to ensure smooth planning and event-day execution. Recruit, organize, and support staff and volunteers involved in event preparation and day-of activities. Coordinate live and silent auction item solicitation, including outreach to donors and tracking commitments. Maintain accurate records of auction items, donor information, and event logistics. Oversee event décor, menu planning, catering coordination, and overall event experience. Work within assigned budget and provide updates on expenses and progress. Partner with YMCA leadership to ensure fundraising goals are met. Promote a positive, inclusive, and mission-focused experience for all attendees, donors, and volunteers. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrated experience in event planning, fundraising, or project coordination. 2. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 3. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or event management tools. 5. Ability to work evenings/weekends as required for the event. 6. Flexibility to adjust hours in the weeks leading up to and following the auction. 7. Experience with donor relations or nonprofit fundraising. 8. Familiarity with silent/live auction management platforms. 9. Prior work or volunteer experience with the YMCA or a mission-driven nonprofit. 10. Requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Sexual Harassment Awareness training, DCFS Mandated Abuse Reporter. 11. Completion of all required safety trainings.
