PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • At Nationwide Furniture Mattress Outlet, we expect all our employees to behave respectfully and courteously in a professional and responsible manner to all customers and colleagues regardless of any dispute or personal situation at all times, either on the company’s premises (store or warehouse locations), or off the company’s premises (customer’s delivery location). You must maintain a positive attitude. This means no disputes on the sales floor in front of customers. As this will constitute as grounds for immediate dismissal. Problems should be dealt with immediately, in private, and respectfully.
  • You are requested to be on the showroom and ready to work a minimum of 5 minutes prior to the beginning of your shift. This means that any preparation for the day (coffee, bathroom break, putting away your lunch, etc.) should be completed prior to 5 minutes before your shift. Staff are depending on your punctuality.
  • Breaks are permitted, but as a courtesy to customers and staff, let a supervisor, manager, or reception (at least two), know where you are (bathroom, smoke, warehouse, lunch) at all times. This is to ensure that customers are informed that you are not present, that messages can be taken and that we do not waste admin and customer time in trying to locate you.
  • Read and abide by the rules and regulations of Nationwide Furniture Mattress Outlet’s integrity-based “Up System.”
  • Personal phone calls and texts are discouraged during work hours. They should be infrequent and important. Personal use of the internet (i.e. Social Media, Youtube and other websites and apps not relevant to your position) will not be tolerated and can result in termination of your employment contract with Nationwide Furniture Mattress Outlet. All computer and cell phone work is to be work-related.
  • Everyone is to assist in performing opening and closing duties (turning on/ off lights, TV’s, etc). It is part of your employment contract that you do not leave the store until your shift is complete and all closing duties are performed unless you have received prior clearance to do so.

This is in consideration of the hourly guarantee Nationwide Furniture Mattress Outlet pays the Sales Professional. Never leave a hole empty. Spread products out on the floor (with the assistance of the warehouse team as required).

  • Each Sales Professional is required to keep up to date on competitor products, policies, prices, and promotions by visiting their websites and showrooms.
  • Must attend sales meetings and training seminars when applicable.

You should not be surprised if a customer identifies something broken, as you should know about any issues in the showroom. Also, know why a manufacturer did something, or why a product is as it is, so you can explain to the customer if they ask.
