MCPS Official Job Description
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of the system related to: project management; program development; Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and MCPS accountability; and College and Career Readiness options and cross office collaborations. Supports counselors as they introduce college and career readiness opportunities to their students. Works to support schools and staff in the development and implementation of MCPS programs. Manages specific career and technical education (CTE) programs of study as assigned; and is abreast of local, state, and national industry standards for certification associated with CTE programs. Physical Demands: None Special Requirements: Some evening meetings with parent or community groups.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of MCPS courses of study and programs; knowledge of MCPS policies and regulations, with experience related to high school graduation requirements, CTE programs of study, student eligibility and access to college and career programmatic options. Excellent human relations skills; strong written and oral communication skills. Considerable understanding of the college and career programs of study offered in MCPS. Has the ability to work and communicate effectively with outside partners, MCPS administrators, and school-based staff. Demonstrates excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills. Prioritizes and manages several tasks simultaneously.
EDUCATION TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
Master?s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum three years successful experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Leadership experience in career and technical education, other special programs, or counseling preferred. Experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, resource or interdisciplinary resource teacher, administrator or other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience. Considerable classroom, school leadership, or counseling experiences working with a diverse student population and the business/corporate community, and planning delivering professional development.Certificate License: Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching or counseling area.
