Synopsis:

Family Youth and Children Services Development Officer

  • Salary Range Band 6 $95,799 - $104,420 plus 11.5% super
  • Temporary full time 12 month contract to deliver on key projects
  • Based at St Kilda Town Hall close to great shops, coffee and beaches!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Community Development and current Working with Children Check
  • Experience providing community development support and resources to professionals in the families, youth and children sector
  • Demonstrated experience in research and knowledge in the implementation of policies, systems and delivery of high-quality services for families, young people and children based on current research and practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong networks with service users, community, professionals and other departments.

IMPORTANT PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Evidence of mandatory qualifications/registrations/licences if applicable

Responsibilities

WHAT’S THE ROLE ALL ABOUT

The City of Port Phillip has made a strong commitment to children and families through the Children’s Services Policy, which describes Council’s vision, Council’s role in children’s services, and how services will be accessible and co-ordinated.
The Family Youth and Children Services Development Officer will form part of a suite of programs designed to maximise positive health, educational and wellbeing outcomes for children, through the Children’s Services Policy, leading collaborative partnerships, service improvement and continuous improvement planning, to ensure Council services are proactive in issues that affect families, young people and children’s services and broader policies and issues within the sector.
Ideally this role would suit a pro-active and solutions focused community development professional with demonstrated experience in research and knowledge in the implementation of policies, systems and delivery of high-quality services for families, young people and children based on current research and practice.
1 x full-time fixed term 12-month opportunity.

WHAT YOU MIGHT DO

  • Support the planning and implementation of Council policies and lead projects which achieve positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • Assist in the interpretation and reporting of data, conduct of research and provide analysis/strategic responses to existing, emerging and anticipated/predicted needs in the municipality, to inform policy development and programs.
  • Plan and facilitate the provision of information about Council services and programs that is up to date, relevant to stakeholders, timely and accessible.
