About the Role We are looking for a Sensor / IoT Engineer to support innovative government technology initiatives involving sensors, autonomous equipment, IoT platforms, and video analytics solutions. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, plan and execute technology initiatives, and explore emerging technologies that support agency and Whole-of-Government innovation objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about smart technologies, AI, IoT ecosystems, cloud integration, and experimentation beyond traditional engineering approaches. Responsibilities Engage stakeholders and end users to gather business and technical requirements Support planning, implementation, testing, and deployment of sensor and IoT-related solutions Work on projects involving sensors, autonomous systems, video analytics, and smart technologies Integrate sensors and edge devices with cloud platforms, applications, and analytics models Support proof-of-concepts (POCs), experimentation, and technology evaluations Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product teams, and government stakeholders Assist in troubleshooting, performance optimisation, and operational support activities Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and project updates for stakeholders Keep up to date with emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and smart nation initiatives Requirements Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, IoT, Robotics, or related disciplines Strong communication and presentation skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Experience engaging users and stakeholders for requirement gathering and project execution Interest in sensors, autonomous equipment, IoT technologies, and video analytics Passionate about learning and experimenting with emerging technologies Familiarity with coding, scripting, or software development concepts Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to explore innovative solutions Able to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams Preferred Skills Experience with IoT platforms, sensor integration, or edge computing technologies Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Exposure to AI/ML, video analytics, or computer vision technologies Knowledge of Python, Node.js, C++, or related programming languages Experience integrating sensors and devices with cloud-based systems and analytics platforms Understanding of data streaming, APIs, MQTT, or IoT communication protocols is advantageous
