Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start or grow their career in the water industry as an Apprentice Water Serviceperson. In this role, you’ll support a skilled crew delivering routine and reactive maintenance across water networks, including pump stations. You’ll be involved in a variety of day-to-day tasks, from assisting with fault response and repairs through to reinstatement works, helping ensure essential services continue to run smoothly. Working alongside experienced team members and reporting to your Supervisor, you’ll learn how to safely and efficiently carry out work in line with contract requirements and Downer’s standard operating procedures. Over time, as your skills and confidence grow, you’ll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and carry out tasks independently within your capability. Customer service is an important part of the role. You’ll interact with the public and stakeholders, helping respond to service requests and ensuring work is completed on time and to a high standard. Mōu koe | About You You will bring: * Knowledge of, or at least one year’s experience in infrastructure, civil works or similar (or a strong interest in entering the industry) * An interest in water reticulation and developing your technical skills * Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 and W, T, R endorsements advantageous) * Confidence using technology, including mobile devices for data entry and reporting * Experience interacting with the public is beneficial * A self-motivated, energetic and positive approach to work * Commitment to safety, quality and following procedures You’re someone who is reliable, eager to learn and ready to get stuck in.
