Key Responsibilities Design System Ownership Own and evolve design system, including components, patterns, foundations (colour, typography, spacing, tokens), and interaction guidelines. Define and maintain standards to ensure consistency and usability across all products and modules. Act as the final design authority for system-level decisions and changes. Component & Pattern Design Design, document, and maintain reusable UI components and interaction patterns. Anticipate product needs and proactively build scalable components to support future use cases. Ensure components are accessible, usable, and aligned with user and business needs. Governance & Quality Establish clear contribution, review, and release processes for the design system. Review contributions from other designers and ensure adherence to system standards. Balance flexibility and consistency, knowing when to extend the system versus when to customise. Collaboration with Engineering Work closely with engineers to ensure design system components are technically feasible, well-implemented, and maintainable. Partner with frontend engineers on component APIs, states, and edge cases. Support alignment between design components and their coded counterparts. Enablement & Adoption Support product designers in using the design system effectively in their day-to-day work. Create clear documentation, guidelines, and examples to drive adoption. Advocate for the design system across teams and help embed it into product workflows. Continuous Improvement Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in existing product designs and the design system. Iterate on the system based on product learnings, user feedback, and team input. Stay up to date with best practices in design systems, accessibility, and UX. Requirements Must Have 3–6+ years of experience in UX, UI, or Product Design. Hands-on experience creating or maintaining a design system or large-scale component library. Strong visual and interaction design skills, with attention to detail. Solid understanding of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and inclusive design principles. Experience working closely with engineers in a product development environment. Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma), including component libraries and design tokens. Nice to Have Experience designing for enterprise, government, or complex workflow-based products. Familiarity with frontend technologies (e.g. React, CSS, design tokens) to better collaborate with engineers. Experience setting up design system governance models.
