The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is the leading specialist educator for game development, 3D animation and VFX. Established in 1996 as a non-profit organization to grow the creative digital sector, AIE pioneered specialist education in these fields throughout our campuses in the United States and Australia.
The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in Seattle, WA is looking to hire a part-time Art Instructor. AIE is a post-secondary non-profit organization and specialist educator in Video Game Development for the fields of Programming, 3D Game Art & Animation, and VFX.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the course content using a combination of practical tutorials, lectures and one to one support
  • Planning, creation, and development of new course materials, lectures, and methods
  • Advising and assisting students on both creative and technical issues
  • Monitoring student progress including attendance, coursework, and informal & formal assessments
  • Interviewing prospective student applicants
  • Building school and student connections to industry with enhance employment opportunities
  • Working collaboratively with faculty and staff on events, initiatives, and improvements

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in 3D Game or 3D Film Industry
  • A passion for 3D game art, animation and being creative
  • Enthusiasm to work with students and pass on your knowledge and skills

Practical, up-to-date knowledge of:

  • Maya
  • Photoshop
  • Nuke or After Effects
  • ZBrush
  • Substance
  • Game Engines—especially Unity and/or Unreal
  • Character Rigging and Animation
  • 3D Modelling
  • Texturing
  • Lighting and Digital Compositing
  • Sculpting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A desire to maintain and learn new skills relating to new technology and software used by industry.

Important information

  • Classes run on a studio model 9 AM – 6 PM Monday through Friday.
  • AIE provides staff with all software and equipment required to deliver the courses.

Salary: FTE base of $55,000 - $70,000 + (negotiable based on skills and experience).

Experience
