Description

GAME DEVELOPER ARTIST (ENTRY-LEVEL) – VIRTROPOLIS VR (ROUND ROCK, TX)

About Us Virtropolis VR is an immersive VR entertainment venue in Round Rock, just north of Austin. We specialize in VR escape rooms and arcade-style experiences, and we’re also developing our own in-house VR games. Our small, flexible team wears many hats — when customers are in the venue, they are our top priority; when it’s quiet, we focus on game development.
Position Overview We’re seeking an Entry-Level Game Developer Artist to join our team. This is an on-site role only at our Round Rock location — no remote work or relocation offered. Pay is $10/hour, with flexible scheduling and a 4x10 work week. Weekend shifts are required (we rotate weekends off).
This role is less about creating art entirely from scratch and more about working with existing purchased assets — tweaking, optimizing, and integrating them into our games. From time to time, you may create unique assets to replace or improve existing ones. In addition, you’ll contribute to graphic design needs such as promotional artwork or UI elements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with 3D tools (Blender, Maya, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows (importing assets, materials, lighting, optimization).
  • Understanding of asset optimization: polygon reduction, UV packing, texture memory efficiency.
  • Some experience with 2D design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) for UI/graphic work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions/collaborate.
  • Interest in VR games and immersive design.
