Summary This position is located at our Monteleone Parking Garage. The Garage Hiker is responsible for providing a positive first and lasting impression to guests when they arrive and leave the hotel. Essential Functions To perform the Garage Hiker position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities of the Garage Hiker position are as follow: • Provide claim check and instruct guests on how to reclaim vehicle • Park guest vehicles in specified areas in a safe and efficient manner • Retrieve customer vehicles from specified areas in a safe and efficient manner • Provide travel directions and information on property events and promotions • Fill out all parking tickets that include make of car, location of car, name of registered guest and marks the ticket for pre-existing damage • Initial parking tickets • Ensure all cars are parked and brought down completely safe • Obey all traffic laws on and off property • Promote the courteous treatment of customers when resolving guest service issues • Provide timely and knowledgeable service and then some to each and every guest; always find solutions to guests’ problems • Greet arriving and departing guests; open passenger door(s) and offer assistance, if appropriate • Other duties as assigned Requirements Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for an individual to successfully perform the duties and responsibility of Garage Hiker position: • Strong customer service and leadership skills • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds • Ability to comply with all hotel’s policies and procedures • Ability to speak clearly, write legibly, perform basic calculations and work well with other associates • Ability to work evening shifts including weekends and holidays • Willingness and ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions including hot, cold, rainy or other weather conditions • A valid stated issued driver license and no driving violations within the last two (2) years Language Ability The individual selected for the Garage Hiker position must demonstrate the ability to understand the English language to: • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos • Write simple correspondence • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other associates of the hotel Math Ability The individual selected for the Garage Hiker position must demonstrate the ability to: • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals • Compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Reasoning Ability The individual selected for the Garage Hiker position must demonstrate the ability to: • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates and Licenses The individual selected for the Garage Hiker position must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and have not been issued any driving violations within the last two (2) years. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Garage Hiker position: • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate • Must be able to work outside in diverse weather conditions Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Garage Hiker position: • The individual must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds • While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear • The individual is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Position Status and Availability The individual selected for this position must be available to work a full-time, evening (PM) shift, Monday - Sunday including holidays. Education and Experience The individual selected for the Garage Hiker position must possess: • A valid high school diploma or general education degree (GED) • At least one (1) year of customer service experience Prior valet and/or driving experience and hospitality experience are highly preferred.
