We’re seeking an experienced Journeyman Garage Manager/Mechanic to lead our garage operations and ensure optimal performance of all company vehicles and equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Journeyman Garage Manager/Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the garage, managing a small team of mechanics or technicians, and performing hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment. This dual role requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman Certification or Red Seal (or equivalent).
  • Valid driver’s license (Class A or Commercial license a plus).
  • Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a heavy-duty or automotive mechanic.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or garage management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT compliance and inspections.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage garage operations including scheduling, workflow, and inventory.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on light- to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Order and manage parts inventory efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with CCOHS and other regulatory safety standards.
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices.
  • Work closely with operations and dispatch to minimize equipment downtime.
