The Garden Center Lead is responsible for enhancing the Murdoch's customer experience by overseeing various tasks in the Garden Center. They work closely with the Assistant Store Manager-Hardside to maintain high merchandising standards, create task lists, offer training and development opportunities, and establish departmental objectives. Their primary focus includes exceptional customer service, overseeing the completion of Garden Center tasks, effective communication, and nurturing the development of the Garden Center team members. As a Murdoch’s Team Member in this role, you will … Commit to the success of the team by embracing Murdochs’ mission, values, and principles. Provide exceptional customer service with a focus on the customer’s needs and solutions that meet them, in a manner that makes them feel valued and welcome in our stores. Support the department manager(s) to facilitate the highest standards in merchandising, and store appearance. Create daily worklists for the Garden Center team members. Merchandise, stock, re-stock, and recover products within the Garden Center and yard according to Murdoch’s merchandising standards. Complete inventory pricing and maintenance duties. Display consistent and sound judgment when dealing with exchanges or returns in accordance with company policies and procedures. Manage product sets within the Garden Center and yard. Develop product knowledge across the breadth of products in the department and provide training and development to Garden Center team members. Practice service-oriented leadership within the department and cross-functionally throughout the store. Set and maintain signage for sales, promotions, events, vendor assets, and financing options. Communicate effectively and create positive working relationships with team members. Create and maintain a safe environment for customers and team members. Exhibit proper radio and phone etiquette. In certain stores, Leads may also operate as 'key carriers', working alongside a member of the store management team to open and/or close the store. When doing this, an Assistant Manager or Store Manager will also be present in the store. Work with the Assistant Store Manager to develop and achieve goals. Other duties as needed, throughout the store. Requirements As a Murdochian in this role, you must… Exceptional merchandising ability. Effective leader with growth, purpose, motivation, and optimization in mind. Complete multiple specialist certifications within the hardside department or have demonstrated equivalent experience. Strong communication (written, oral, and interpersonal) skills. Strong organizational skills. Positive attitude and demonstrated practice of learning. Excel in a fast paced, evolving work environment. Effective problem-solving skills. Strong Windows-based computer skills – especially with Microsoft products. Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time in inclement weather. Heavy and repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs.) Bending, carrying, and pushing. Working on a ladder.
