Description
Description For Garden’s Sake is a family-owned garden center and landscaping company, in operation since 1999. We are continually growing, and offer customers a one-stop shop for plants, landscape design/installation, and lawn maintenance services. Working with us allows you to enjoy a beautiful, natural environment every day. You’ll be given opportunities to train, learn, and grow to your greatest potential. Plus, we have resident goats, chickens, and ducks! Get ready to dig deeper, reach higher, and grow together with For Garden’s Sake —where every plant needs a home and every home needs a plant! We’re looking for team members who will provide thoughtful, engaging, and personalized service to bring joy and inspiration to our customers. If you’re dynamic and people-focused, thrive in fast-paced environments, and can keep your cool (and your positivity) even when the store is buzzing, this role is perfect for you. This is a part-time seasonal (temporary) position, paying $17/hour. The spring season kicks off on March 1 and generally winds down in late May, dependent on weather. The Garden Center is open seven days a week, with 8:45am – 5:15pm or 9:45am - 6:15pm shifts; we also have several For Friday's Sake events with extended store hours until 8pm. Minimum three days a week required, including at least one weekend day. This role includes extensive walking and standing on pavement and gravel, lifting and carrying, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. *Primary Duty* Plant coach: Use your enthusiasm for all things green and comprehensive knowledge of plants, soils, fertilizers, and gardening accessories to guide customers and provide expert advice. Teach, consult, and inspire our customers by providing them with the know-how and confidence to create their own dream space. Assist and educate customers: Turn everyday shopping into a delightful retail adventure by greeting customers, answering questions and providing general recommendations, and helping load purchases into vehicles as needed. Care for plants and merchandise: Be the muscle and the go-go-go energy that keeps everything thriving by watering plants, unloading delivery trucks, organizing and stocking tables, and keeping the store clean and tidy. (Must be able to safely lift up to 50lbs.) Run the checkout register: Ensure customers leave on a high note by ringing up purchases, navigating the POS system like a pro, answering last minute plant questions, and keeping those long spring season lines moving. Serve at the Potting Shed: Elevate customers’ shopping experience with our wide array of beers, wines, sodas, and snacks; be ready to scoop lots and lots of Sunset Slush - the kids love it! (Must be at least 18 years old to serve alcohol.) For Garden’s Sake is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status.
Responsibilities
Provide expert plant advice to customers while maintaining store merchandise and assisting with daily operations. Manage the checkout register and serve food and beverages at the Potting Shed.
