Role Statement Lead assigned department and assist with any issues that may arise. Assist the Garden Center Manager in directing and coordinating the Garden Center functions to ensure quality customer service and efficient utilization of resources. Location This position will be performed onsite at our store. Remote work is not available for this role. Outcomes for Success Provide and ensure customer service in the Garden Center Department. Lead salespeople and stocker to ensure appropriate merchandising standards are met. Be informed and provide product information to customers and Garden Center team. Understand needs of department customers and further develop department product knowledge. Assists in training Garden Center personnel in assigned functions, including sales and customer service techniques. May assist manager with inventory counts and ordering. Ensure a safe work environment and work practices are maintained at all times. Empowered to direct the work of others by assigning tasks, creating schedules, communicating priorities, and motivating the team. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements 1-3 years of either on the job experience or formal education Leadership experience Retail lawn and garden experience preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills High school diploma or GED Physical Requirements Occasional reaching-extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Frequent use of hands/fingers to handle or feel (operate, active, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect position). See (detect, identify, observe). Talk/hear (writing, reading, speaking and understanding English). Occasional lifting up to 20-35 lbs. Wages Starting wages will be based on years of experience and education.
