Are you passionate about great food and friendly service? We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Catering Assistant to join our team at Blueberry Café, part of the award-winning Coolings garden centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a vibrant, community-driven environment.

Responsibilities

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Preparing and serving food and beverages to customers to the highest hygiene and presentation standards
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, café, and service areas in line with health and safety regulations
  • Providing outstanding customer service ensuring guests feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated
  • Supporting the Catering Manager in resolving day to day issues (e.g. machine faults, till queries, seating logistics)
  • Restocking fridges and displays to ensure they are visually appealing and well-stocked throughout the day
  • Following all operational procedures, including daily food safety checks, opening/closing routines, and allergen controls

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • 6+ months’ experience in a hospitality or retail setting preferable but not essential
  • Basic food safety awareness, with confidence in safe handling, storage, and service practices
  • Excellent communication skills with a warm, friendly, and proactive approach to customers and colleagues
  • Product knowledge and confidence to describe menu items clearly and make helpful recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in presentation, cleanliness, and compliance with café standards
  • Team spirit, with the flexibility to help across different tasks and adapt to customer needs
