Job Title: Garden Maintenance Chargehand
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 per year, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

At Myreside Management, we take pride in maintaining beautiful, well-kept gardens across our managed properties in Edinburgh. We are looking for an experienced Garden Maintenance Chargehand to lead our gardening team and ensure our outdoor spaces look their absolute best.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum horticulture qualification (e.g., RHS Level 2, SVQ Level 2/3 in Horticulture, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in garden maintenance, ideally with supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of plants, shrubs, and horticultural practices.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a small team effectively.
  • Skilled in the safe use of garden machinery and tools.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for company van use).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Garden Maintenance Chargehand, you will be responsible for supervising a small team of gardeners, planning and executing maintenance schedules, and providing expert care for a variety of plants, shrubs, and garden landscapes. You will play a key role in maintaining the high standards our clients expect.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise a team of gardeners, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee garden maintenance activities, including lawn care, shrub pruning, planting, and seasonal work.
  • Provide expert advice on plant care, pest control, and landscaping.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and machinery are maintained and used safely.
  • Liaise with clients and property managers to understand requirements and deliver outstanding service.
  • Monitor the team’s performance and provide guidance, training, and support where needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
