Description POSITION SUMMARY Work closely with Nursery Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent customer service. Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Primary responsibility will be to assist customers with checkout, operate the cash register, process sales, and handle cash, credit, and other payment methods accurately. Assist with unloading product and merchandising. Support Nursery Manager in maintaining the property for cleanliness and organization. Water, fertilize, prune, and transplant plants as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization in greenhouses, sales areas, and storage spaces. Label, arrange, and restock plants and gardening supplies. Greet and assist customers in selecting plants, providing care advice, and answering gardening-related questions. Educate customers on proper plant maintenance and recommend suitable products. Assist in arranging, stocking, and maintaining fresh floral displays. Help process flower orders, including trimming, watering, and preparing arrangements. Provide basic floral care guidance to customers and assist with special orders. Comply with policies and procedures established by Island Market. Follow and enforce all Island Market safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Address and resolve customer complaints effectively and professionally. Understand that this job description may not encompass all aspects of the position but serves as a fair and accurate representation of the duties involved. Perform any tasks assigned. Job Qualifications / Required Skills / Key Competencies Previous experience in horticulture, gardening, or landscaping is a plus but not required. Basic knowledge of plants and plant care, with a willingness to learn. Customer service experience, including cashiering, is preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods. Ability to calculate discounts and percentages Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Self-starter and manage time wisely Organizing and planning Good analytical & organizational skills Excellent English communication skills (verbal & written) Work Environment Primarily outdoor work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Frequent lifting, bending, and prolonged standing. Exposure to dirt, pollen, fertilizers, and gardening chemicals. Use of hand tools and equipment in a physically active role.
