Job Title: Gardener – 1 Year Contract
Managed by: Gardens Manager and Assistant Gardens Manager

Salary: £12.31 per hour Contract Type: 1 Year Fixed Term, Full-time
Hours: A minimum of 37.5 hours per week (exclusive of breaks) Monday to Sunday, on a rotational
shift basis. Weekend working will be required, for which time will be taken in lieu.
The Role:
We are seeking a Gardener to join our passionate Gardens team who manage 338 acres of gardens and
grounds, including the gardens at the Dairy, the Five Arrows Hotel, and at 2 contemporary buildings
(Windmill Hill and the Flint House and Annex). The successful candidate will be an integral part of the
team at Waddesdon Manor | A French Renaissance-style château ensuring that this Grade 1 listed
garden remains one of the finest Victoria gardens in Britain.
You will be responsible for upkeeping the 165-acre garden, famous for its ornamental bedding, shrub
planting and specimen trees, and high horticultural standards referred to as the Waddesdon Standard.
What you will do:
As a member of the Gardens Team, you will work towards achieving the strategic objectives and
vision for the Garden Department (unique, flamboyant, inspirational and bold) in all areas of the role.
The Gardener is a horticulturalist with responsibility to support the gardens presentation to agreed
standards.
You will participate in a range of duties across all areas of the Garden. The care and presentation of
the Garden is supervised by the Gardens Manager and Asst. Garden Manager, but all team members
have significant levels of specialist skills, responsibility and collective ownership and will be expected
to perform all aspects of garden maintenance.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Day-to-day Management and Presentation
roses and climbing plants.

Training and Development
horticultural knowledge through training and courses as considered necessary and
