BMTU BAND 1 – 9 SALARY UP TO £53,251 PER ANNUM AT BAND 9 ( STARTING AT £46,943 BAND 7)
Hackney Council’s Building Maintenance Teams work streams are rapidly expanding, we are looking for qualified Gas Engineers to increase our direct workforce. We are looking for individuals to help us maintain the properties we look after. Your role will be to carry out to a high standard all aspects of servicing, repairs, maintenance and installation of gas hot water and heating systems and appliances in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998 Amended 2018. You will also be required to undertake a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities outside of the basic trade such as minor plumbing, electrical and finishing works to provide a comprehensive repair service.
You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness as some of the work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to work on your own initiative, be able to manage your time and take pride in your work.
You will need experience in repairs and maintenance/servicing perhaps for a Housing Association, Local Authority or as a contractor working in tenant’s homes. You will need to hold a full UK manual driving licence (with no more than three penalty points) as we will provide you with a work vehicle. To be able to do this work, you need to have a NVQ or City & Guilds qualification and/or relevant experience in your specific trade and/or ACS Qualification. You will also need to have IT skills as you will be using a hand held device to record your work.
The interview may require you to undertake a simple skills assessment.
