ESG Operations, an Inframark Company Located at the Tifton Municipal Complex 1000 Armour Road, Tifton, GA Inframark is hiring a Gas Technician or Technician in Training to join our team in Tifton, GA that is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipal natural gas system. You would be responsible for locating and painting meters; basic leak investigation; maintenance tasks; and general labor. We are seeking customer service-oriented candidates with experience working with mechanical and electrical systems. Utility locator experience is a plus! Duties and responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs for natural gas services Work outside in all weather, both above-ground and below-ground Locate natural gas lines Perform simple sniff tests to determine leaks Maintain records associated with service and repair functions Read and interpret meters and gauges to ensure proper function; repair or replace as needed; assist in turning gas service on and off Carry out landscape maintenance and traffic control tasks Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies Work harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies Qualifications Requires high school diploma, GED and training equivalent to the satisfactory completion of specialized training or relevant experience. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards. Knowledge of: Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing codes, as applied to service and installation of appliances. Working knowledge of electronics and its application to control circuits and systems. Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, the installation and service of appliances, venting systems, gas burning equipment and metering and regulating systems. Ability to: Pursue training and development opportunities; continuously build knowledge and skills Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Write routine reports and correspondence Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Working conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards. Physical requirements This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis. The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

The Gas Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipal natural gas system, including installation, maintenance, and repairs for natural gas services. Duties include locating gas lines, performing leak tests, and maintaining service records.
