Beyond Education is an Ofsted regulated tutoring company in Urmston, Manchester. We tutor children aged 4-18 in English, maths, science and also for school entrance exams. Children are tutored face-to-face in our centre.

We are looking for someone to join our team who;

  • Has a passion for teaching the secondary English curriculum
  • Is available to work Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday between 4-8pm
  • Opportunity for additional hours including daytime hours for the right candidate
  • The position is suitable for any secondary English teachers including trainee teachers, NQTs, RQTs.
  • Position may also be offered to those who have studied English to at least A level

Expected/non negotiable;

  • Subject to enhanced DBS check
  • Able to work independently using initiative as well as working as part of a team
  • English grades 7/A or above
  • A levels or equivalent
  • Subject to references
  • Available to work Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday evenings 4-8pm

Desired/preferred;

  • DBS check on update service
  • Flexible
  • Experience of the AQA English language syllabus
  • Experience of the AQA English literature syllabus
  • Experience of the Eduqas English syllabus

Successful candidates will (if qualified);

  • Teach secondary school students English students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Support staff with less experience (training, guiding, mentoring)
  • Plan effectively for their sessions, including those in small groups
  • Ensure resources are organised and ready to teach before sessions
  • Liaise with colleagues and parents regarding students progress
  • Plan for a teaching assistant to support small group sessions

Those who are not qualified teachers will only teach students on a 1:1 basis and be given support from a qualified teacher.
