Description Summary: The Gear Specialist serves as a key interface and essential resource for our customers. The position is responsible for providing estimates and blue print takeoffs utilizing our power distribution products for bid jobs. The successful candidate will work closely with the outside sales team to ensure high customer satisfaction through the identification and quotation of cost saving measures to help Van Meter achieve its purpose to create lasting value for those we serve. Key Responsibilities: Service the electrical contractor, commercial and industrial customers by providing Switchgear quotes for projects or information on products or services Manage both inbound and outbound sales communication both internally and externally Assist customers with power distribution product selection and application Emphasize salable features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare awarded projects for the project management team following established standard operating procedures Provide customers with accurate stock and delivery information Work with internal customers to provide feedback on adequate stock levels Build and maintain customer relationships to include suppliers and vendors Participate in company sponsored trade shows and events Review and analyze reports of business transactions Work closely with outside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date Requirements Critical Success Factors: Customer Focused Ability to lead by example with a positive work ethic and attitude Ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to proactively analyze, identify & then follow up to resolve discrepancies Detailed-Oriented Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills Self motivated Drive for continuous improvement Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities with strict deadlines Growth orientated Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution components Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Theory and principles Job Requirements/Specifications: 4 year degree or technical education and equivalent experience required Minimum 1-5 years experience in gear quotations or other directly related industry required Microsoft Excel skills are essential Knowledge of Eclipse preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills via phone, email and in person are required Knowledge and experience with lighting products and distribution is preferred Travel may be required (approximately 15%) for training, meetings and support of customer needs Work Environment & Physical Demands: Consistently sitting, talking, hearing, customer contact, and work indoors Frequently working with hands and fingers, vision acuity-near, works with others, and works alone Sometimes lifting and driving Occasionally standing, walking, carrying, and vision acuity-far Several factors are considered in making compensation decisions at Van Meter; including but not limited to education, skill sets, work experience and training, and other business and organizational needs.
