QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Austswim Certificate of Swimming and Water Safety OR Swim Australia Teacher (SAT) OR LSV Swimming and Water Safety
  • CPR Qualification [HLTAID009]
  • Employee Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain prior to employment)
  • National Police Check
  • Pre-employment medical
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We believe that learning to swim and water safety is a vital life skill. Our motto is I SWIM SO I CAN… The focus of this role is to help build the self-esteem of children, enhance their confidence and provide professional swimming and water safety instruction in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. We want swimming lessons to be the best part of a child’s day!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver accredited GELSwim programs in line with organisational standards and teaching frameworks.
  • Implement GEL policies and procedures to ensure a safe, secure and inclusive environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and leadership to GELSwim students during lessons, promoting a positive and engaging learning experience.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, offering constructive feedback on student progress and development.
  • Assess students’ abilities to ensure appropriate class placement within the Learn to Swim program.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with students, families, and the wider community.

IF SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE APPOINTED AS BOTH A:

  • GELSwim Instructor - teaching learn to swim lessons run Monday to Friday in the mornings and after school as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings.
  • Aquatic Programs Swim Instructor - teaching School intensive programs which run Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3:00pm during school terms.
