Position Overview: The General Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, preparing reconciliations and management reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations, and collaborating with cross-border finance teams and external advisors. Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Transaction Processing Maintain the general ledger, prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure transaction accuracy and timely recording. Accounts Payable & Receivable Process vendor invoices and payments, manage customer invoicing and collections, reconcile supplier and customer accounts, and resolve discrepancies. Bank & Cash Management Reconcile bank accounts, monitor cash positions, prepare bank reconciliations and cash flow summaries, and support cash forecasting activities. Month-End & Reporting Support Prepare period-end journal entries (accruals, prepayments, deferrals), support month-end and year-end close activities, and produce schedules and analyses for management reporting. Tax & Compliance Support preparation of tax filings and statutory reports, ensure adherence to internal controls and company accounting policies, and assist with VAT/GST and withholding tax compliance as required. Intercompany & External Coordination Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, coordinate with external accountants, banks, and tax advisors, and support cross-border payments and documentation. Systems & Process Improvement Use and improve accounting systems (ERP/cloud accounting), assist with system implementations or data migrations, and help document standard operating procedures and internal controls. Ad Hoc & Project Support Provide support for finance projects, audits, and special tasks as assigned by finance leads. Qualification: Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is a plus. Work Experience 3+ years of accounting experience with exposure to general ledger management, period-end close, reconciliations, and transactional accounting. Experience with multi-entity or international operations is preferred. Technical Skills Proficient with cloud accounting systems or ERPs (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, SAP Business One) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with bank portals and payment platforms is advantageous. Language & Communication Fluent English required. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external advisors. Core Competencies High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and period-end routines. Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a distributed or remote environment. Proactive problem-solving mindset and drive for process improvements. High ethical standards and respect for confidentiality.
