General Accountant (UK Clients) – RemotePosition Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented General Accountant to support UK-based clients across various industries. The role will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations. The ideal candidate has strong experience in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and working with UK accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms. The candidate must be comfortable working full-time (40 hours per week) aligned with UK business hours. This is a fully remote role, supporting UK companies and finance teams. Job Title General Accountant (UK Clients) Employment Type Full-Time 40 hours per week Work Setup Remote / Work from Home Work Schedule Must be available to work UK business hours Typical schedule example: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM UK Time (approximately 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM Philippines Time, depending on daylight savings) Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures Prepare management accounts and financial reports Ensure accounting records comply with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Process vendor invoices and manage accounts payable Prepare and issue customer invoices Monitor and manage accounts receivable and collections Maintain accurate customer and supplier ledgers Reconciliations Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations Investigate and resolve discrepancies Maintain reconciliation documentation and schedules VAT and Compliance Prepare and assist with VAT returns Support HMRC compliance requirements Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping Assist with year-end accounts preparation Financial Reporting Prepare monthly management reports Assist with budgeting and forecasting Support preparation of financial reports for directors and external accountants Client Communication Work closely with UK-based finance teams, accountants, and business owners Respond to accounting-related queries Assist with financial analysis and reporting needs Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3–7 years of accounting experience Experience working with UK companies or UK accounting processes Solid knowledge of UK GAAP and VAT regulations Experience with accounting software such as: Xero Sage QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Excellent English communication skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment High attention to detail and strong analytical skills Preferred Qualifications CPA (Philippines) or ACCA / CIMA exposure is an advantage Experience preparing VAT returns and management accounts Experience supporting UK small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) Familiarity with tools such as: Dext / Receipt Bank Hubdoc Stripe PayPal Wise Experience working in outsourcing or offshore accounting environments Technical Skills Candidates should have experience with some of the following: Xero Sage QuickBooks Dext / Receipt Bank Hubdoc Excel / Google Sheets Financial reporting tools Work Requirements Reliable high-speed internet connection Quiet and professional home office setup Personal laptop or workstation capable of handling accounting software Ability to work full UK business hours Key Competencies Strong attention to detail Analytical thinking and problem solving Strong organizational skills Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Professional client communication Ability to manage multiple priorities What Success Looks Like in This Role Accurate and timely financial reporting Clean and well-maintained accounting records Efficient month-end close process Strong collaboration with UK clients and finance teams Consistent compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations
