Gipsey Bridge afterschool club would like to welcome a lucky candidate to join their team in delivering after school care to all that use them.
This is a term time only setting.
Hours required:
2.30pm - 5.30pm
Working with children is not easy, you need a sense of humour, a strong stomach and nasal pallet (we deal with sick and poo daily!!!!), you need lots and lots of patience’s (you will hear the same sentence and story over and over again, you must have the ability to look surprised and excited each time as if it was the first time you have heard it!!). A general assistant’s role at Gipsey Bridge afterschool club is the heart of the setting, children will share their worries, fears, happiness and excitement with you, your colleagues will reply on you and the parents will share their news with you.
This is the only job you will hear phrases like ‘that poo is sooo big I will have to cut it up!!!’ and ‘I’ve got a bogey stuck up my nose!!’…… it is a deeply rewarding role providing a sense of achievement each and everyday.

The PM General Assistant role will involve the following

• Supporting colleagues with the end of day preschool session
• Preparing and delivering PM snacks to children aged 2-11yrs
• Supporting colleagues with setting up and packing away activities
• General cleaning and end of day close down duties
• Preparing and cooking light teas for children following food safety regulations (training will be given)
• Complete necessary paperwork such as recording food temperatures
• To take messages and follow the settings procedures of sharing messages.
• Escort children on school collections maintaining safety and supervision at all times.
• Maintain the kitchen and other areas of the setting to a high standard
• Answer the door and telephone professionally and communicate effectively
• Complete a weekly shopping list
• To wash an endless amount of pots and pans, cups, toys the list goes on….

Skills

• Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures would be beneficial
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
