General construction and Maintenance Technician

OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Site Manager and Crew Leader, is responsible for completing new construction projects as well as restoring vacant apartment homes to a market-ready status, within the allotted timeframe and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Provides the basic knowledge, labor, and skillset required for construction projects including painting, flooring installation, site repairs, basic carpentry, and site cleaning.
This is a full-time position. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some need to occasionally flex these hours. Employees are scheduled four 10 hour shifts a week with chance for overtime on their off days. This position involves regular travel to various construction sites in spring lake, Fruitport and Norton Shores.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting oneself in a professional manner as a company representative, demonstrating sound judgment, and conduct.
• Drywall repairs, painting, caulking and grouting.
• Basic carpentry including cabinet and trim installation.
• Flooring installation including hardwood and tile.
• Completing administrative paperwork as necessary.
• Additional duties as assigned by Crew Leader.

Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to effectively and professionally communicate both orally and in writing, including over the phone.
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, such as climbing ladders and stairs; walking, kneeling, standing, squatting, twisting, and bending for long periods of time.
• Ability to prioritize jobs and meet deadlines.
• Maintain a professional appearance following company apparel policy.
• Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
