We're seeking a General Counsel to lead our legal function and enterprise compliance program. You'll be the company's chief legal officer and compliance architect, serving as a trusted advisor to our executive team and board as we navigate the regulatory landscape of blockchain-enabled financial services. What You’ll Do Legal Leadership Offer strategic legal guidance to executives and the board on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts, partnership agreements, and vendor arrangements Supervise legal disputes, regulatory investigations, and enforcement actions Lead regulatory applications, licensing procedures, and government relations Oversee corporate governance, board matters, and company secretarial duties Compliance & Regulatory Create and implement thorough AML/CTF compliance programs Foster and maintain direct relationships with ASIC, AUSTRAC, and other regulatory bodies Ensure continual compliance with digital asset regulations and financial services requirements Develop and manage blockchain transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting Conduct compliance audits and gap assessments against regulatory standards Handle AUSTRAC reporting obligations and regulatory filings Policy & Training Develop and uphold compliance policies, procedures, and controls Design and implement compliance training programs across the organisation Establish compliance monitoring and testing frameworks Create escalation procedures and incident response protocols for compliance breaches Governance & Reporting Set up compliance KPIs and reporting mechanisms for executive and board oversight Advise on regulatory changes and emerging compliance risks within the digital asset space Collaborate with technology and operations teams to integrate compliance into business processes Act as the primary liaison for regulatory examinations and audits . Legal Qualification: Admitted legal practitioner with a current Australian practising certificate Experience: We’re looking for someone with over 10 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within the regulated financial services sector. AML/CTF Expertise: Hands-on experience in designing and managing AML/CTF compliance programs is essential. Regulatory Knowledge: A strong grasp of the ASIC, AUSTRAC, and APRA frameworks Digital Assets: Familiarity with cryptocurrency regulations, blockchain operations, and compliance requirements for digital assets is a plus. Leadership: We value a proven background as General Counsel, Head of Legal/Compliance, or in a senior counsel role within fintech or financial services.
