AboutSkin is looking for a General Dermatology Medical Assistant to join their fast-growing, state-of-the-art clinic. The General Dermatology Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the General Dermatology Physician and delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves both administrative and clinical duties to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the practice. This MA will be working alongside our medical dermatology providers: Dr. Stoler, Ho, Rothstein, and Jelena Eddy, PA-C. Hourly rate: $24-26/hr. based on experience Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Job Duties: Provide care according to physician’s instruction and in accordance with recognized techniques and procedures and established standards and policies to maintain the health and general well-being of the patient. Provide preoperative and post-operative teaching for both patient and family members. Provide assistance during surgery or other procedures as indicated. Set up patient for surgery including prepping area, draping with sterile drapes, setting up clean tray with anesthesia and preparing instruments. Scrub in as assistant to surgeon. Hand instruments and cut suture, keep operative area clean and organized. Administer anesthesia as directed by physician. Prepare equipment and paperwork for surgery. Maintain appropriate records and documentation. Rooming & completing patient intake/obtaining HPI. Scribing while assisting with exams; attention to detail is key. Sun protection education. Sun cancer education. Clean and sterile technique are used throughout the practice. OSHA compliancy. HIPAA compliancy. Ability to assist in wound care, suture removals, staple removal. Setting up & assisting with procedures (i.e., biopsies, excisions, lasers, injectables, etc.). Sterilizing instruments & packing instruments. Preparing & stocking rooms. Schedule future appointments when applicable. Return patient voicemails throughout the day (all calls returned before leaving for the end of the day). Follows protocol to ensure Quality MIPS measures are completed for each patient. Familiarity and knowledge of current products; ability to discuss and recommend them to patients in the room. Ability to set up all lasers and assist on treatment (intraocular eye shields, numbing, visia photos, etc.). Exercises problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when dealing with patients. Ensures the patient feels welcome to the practice. Empathetic with patients’ needs and concerns. Promptly addresses patient complaints and other patient-related issues, including management involvement. Directs staff to the appropriate supervisor or manager to streamline workflows and increase efficiencies. Other duties as assigned by Clinical Supervisor and/or Clinical Manager.
