OVERVIEW

We are looking for someone to join us full time on our farm. We have 900 milking goats and 200+ followers. We also have some store cattle and arable land, mostly maize, peas/barley, wheat and grass.
As you will be working in and around the goats most of the time, seeing when there is a problem and doing something about it, or telling someone about it promptly is key. Milking will be taught alongside our milkers so that you can cover when it is required, i.e. days off or holidays. In exchange for your hard work, we offer good rates of pay and bonuses when fully trained. We can be flexible with days when you need it, and you will have 28 days holiday, pension and be on the books.

REQUIREMENTS

• Good experience in driving tractors and/or loaders, mostly for yard work but also some field work
• A team player but also happy to work alone
• Ability to get on with jobs needing to be done and not waiting to be told
• Day to day maintenance of machinery (grease / clean / refuel etc)
• Eye for stock and for detail.
• Dealing with a problem when it arises

Feeding goats – this involves clearing out feed from the day before and replenishing with fresh feed.
Littering – every pen is littered daily and then fully mucked out monthly. This is done by telescopic loader. Tractor and trailer is used each month when cleaning out.
Mixing feed – our goats eat a Total Mixed Ration. This is done to a measured ration and so need accuracy and an understanding of the need for consistency.
