Description Position Summary: The General Labor 2 performs daily farming activities such as irrigation, tractor work, weed spraying, grove and asset maintenance using best farm practices. This position prepares irrigation systems for water delivery and ensures appropriate distribution of water, as well as operating tractors and other farm equipment such as ATVs. The role is essential to support organizational goals and model best practices, guided by our values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency and Stewardship (EATS). Job Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares irrigation sets prior to water delivery by turning on and adjusting pumps, opening and/or closing valves, and setting booster pumps to auto operation. Irrigates tree crops by controlling water from irrigation pipelines. Checks, unplugs, and/or replaces irrigation emitters. Checks and repairs leaks in irrigation hoses and pipelines. Controls water flow in the orchard by adjusting valves and or tuning on/off pumps. Cleans and maintains filter screens, wand motors, and floats. Greases booster pump motors and maintains packing on impeller shafts. Replants missing, dead, and/or sick trees, and gives appropriate care. Performs orchard maintenance using tractor, other implements or weed sprayer. Reports problems such as: pipeline leaks, broken limbs, large holes, sick trees, and vandalism to supervisor. Cleans up trash on assigned groves, picks up and replaces fallen limb props, maintains block and wind machine markers, puts cables up across driveways, patches and repairs roads or drives. Assists in other departments as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Skills and Abilities Knowledge of farm operations and tasks performed. Knowledge of tractor driving and ability to use various implements. Ability to understand and effectively follow directions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to focus and complete duties in a timely manner. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask, adapt quickly to change and resolve errors in a timely manner. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Strong attention to detail. Organized approach to note taking and data recording to properly maintain and contribute to our computerized database. Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with fellow employees and management. Ability to learn from on-the-job training. Self-driven, dependable, and trustworthy. Ability to safely operate a 4-wheel ATV or UTV to check water. Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner and actively promote company Illness & Injury. Prevention Program and farm safety policies. Supports and promotes company and departmental values and goals. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of tractor driving experience. 1+ years of irrigation experience. Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier. Basic computer skills. Bilingual verbal and written English/Spanish.
